About

WELCOME

We specialize in the treatment of reading, spelling, writing, math and comprehension difficulties.  Our services are specifically intended for children who struggle with language, literacy and math and need an intervention program that is proven effective and has quantifiable results.

Our tutors provide intensive one-on-one remediation that is multisensory in nature and based upon the Orton-Gillingham Approach.  Students learn using visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and tactile senses simultaneously.

OUR FOCUS

Language:

  • Phonological Awareness

  • Sound/Symbol Recognition

  • English spelling rules and conventions

  • Morphology

  • Fluency

  • Vocabulary

  • Comprehension

Math:

  • Numeracy

  • Pattern Recognition

  • Development of abstract thinking

  • Problem solving

  • Multi-sensory math

OUR METHODOLOGY

Lessons and material presented are produced by the Great Word House™ Reading Program, and follow a logical sequence starting with the easiest and most basic elements and progress methodically to more difficult material.

Each step systematically reviews concepts already taught in the previous lessons to reinforce both retention and retrieval abilities.  New skills are introduced only when the student is ready and they have shown mastery of the previously taught concepts.

Every student is unique, and as such we proceed at a pace that is specific to the needs of the individual.

ASSESSMENT

We use a battery of language skills assessments to measure abilities in phonological processing, reading, spelling, writing, auditory processing, vocabulary and, when indicated, math.

Our evaluations provide a clear and objective blueprint of a student's abilities and needs.

We now also offer an informal math assessment for elementary school grades.
